You bump into a friend you haven’t seen in a long time and they ask how you’ve been. Without pause, “I’m good” escapes your mouth. You smile, and it’s convincing. The talk is short, you make plans to have coffee that you doubt will happen, and then you move on through your day.
But that isn’t a one-off interaction. It’s the baseline. Maybe a few people in your life actually know how you’re doing, and at some point, you started to believe it’s better to just tell yourself everything is okay.
And yet, there’s a part of you that’s wanting so deeply to be seen. It comes knocking at your door, sometimes pounding, but you don’t know what to do and where to begin.
I intend to make our time together the landscape in which we can safely open that door, at a pace that feels right for you. To sit down with the part(s) that want to air out how hard it’s been. How life sucks, and how confusing, stressful, and exhausting it can be.

Tanya’s Approach to Counselling
I hold a deep appreciation for human complexity, nuance, resilience, and the ways we make meaning of our experiences. I’m naturally drawn to work that bridges introspection, authenticity, advocacy, and connection; co-creating spaces where people feel understood and supported in their becoming. From my lived experience and studies, I understand the fragmentation that can come with navigating one’s personal experience, relationships, and the broader social context—and how the daily practice of reclaiming our innate wholeness can serve as a powerful remedy.
My approach is rooted in the belief that people are incredibly capable beings seeking alignment within themselves and belonging. I’m passionate about providing care that is supportive, collaborative, and that champions my clients’ innate resilience. I strive to help people make sense of their experiences, understand how past and present challenges shape them, and find ways to move forward that honour the client’s truth(s). I believe healing isn’t solely personal—it is also connected to and works bidirectionally with our relationships, community, and the larger systems we live within.
My approach to counselling is a shared process of discovery and safety—one where clients are invited to lean deeper into self- and world-understanding with tenderness and curiosity. Above all, I believe in the transformative qualities of love and connection. It is truly my deepest honour to be trusted and bear witness to all parts that yearn, and feel scared, to take up space.
I received my Master's in Counselling Psychology from Adler University and am a pre-licensed counsellor at the moment. My registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) is expected to be completed by late summer/early fall 2026.
I welcome diverse clients of all backgrounds, orientations, and beliefs. I work towards embodying justice-centred and trauma-informed care, as well as decolonial approaches to healing.
I offer individual (adolescents aged 12+ & adults), couple/relationship, and family sessions.
