You may have clicked on this page because your life feels out of control – it’s not the life you expected or hoped for, which likely is leaving you feeling empty, isolated, and disappointed.  Maybe you have an idea of where things began to “go wrong” but are confused where to go from here. On the other hand, you might have no idea where things went wrong – it feels as if you woke up to realize that life had slowly become unmanageable one day at a time. You might have even reached the point where you don’t really recognize the person you see in the mirror and have a hard time imagining ever feeling “healthy”, “hopeful”, or “fulfilled”.

As strange as it may feel to see yourself this way, every individual has unique experiences, strengths, and dreams – however, when we become isolated in our pain, we lose sight of these. We become overwhelmed by the unresolved losses or traumas, and stuck in the shame, challenges, and stress we find ourselves surrounded by.

For some, this can lead to behaviours, patterns, and substances that allow us to escape our pain, memories, or even current experience of life. For others, this can look like changes in relationships and periods of isolation or deep loneliness.

If this sounds like you, the decision to find support can feel overwhelming and frightening, but by making this decision you’ve already taken the first step – this is a path you don’t have to walk alone.

What to expect

While your counselling looks different for each individual, common themes often involve re-discovering who you are, building self-esteem and self-compassion, learning to cope with stress, anxiety, and distress, and working towards recovery from past traumas and unresolved grief. I bring compassion and gentleness to our time together and offer accountability and gentle encouragement without shame or judgement. It is important to me that I honour the vulnerability you may be experiencing and the privilege it is for me to join you on your path to personal growth and wellness.

While I am both personally and professionally familiar with the pain and joy of healing and recovery, I honour each person’s lived experience and the challenges they are facing as deeply unique and personal. My goal is to work with you to co-create the most appropriate healing path for your unique concerns and goals. The range of approaches I bring to our sessions allows us to address the variety of challenges you may be experiencing from many different perspectives, allowing us to work together towards your holistic wellness, and towards loving yourself for who you truly are.

I hold a Master of Counselling Psychology Degree from Adler University with an additional specialization in Art Therapy (MCP – AT) and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

While I work with a wide range of challenges, the two populations I enjoy working with the most are those struggling with addictions and substance use, and those struggling with overall change or life-stage based challenges and transitions including retirement and aging.
