Sometimes we don’t feel like ourselves.
For some, this means feeling overwhelmed by our thoughts and emotions, while for others the disconnect can come from feeling nothing at all. The internal “ickiness” can show up through our emotions, thoughts, or in our body, and is often a scary, confusing, and unsettling experience.
This intuitive feeling is typically caused by misalignment; whether it’s having conflict within ourselves, feeling out of step with those close to us, or feeling out of place in the world around us.
It can be vital to have a comfortable, judgment-free space to sort out what’s going on for us when we are experiencing that “off” feeling. This is the space I strive to cultivate in my work as a counsellor.
Common concerns I work with:
· Anxiety, Panic & ocd
· Depression
· anger
· Self Worth & perfectionism
· exploration of identity, including gender and sexuality
· Body Image issues & Eating disorders
· attachment wounds
· sexual assault including childhood sexual abuse
· chronic pain
· adhd
· grief & loss
· Postpartum challenges
· Relational challenges (including traditional & alternative relationships, including polyamory and/or non-monogamy)
· self harm & suicidal ideation
My Approach
As a counsellor, I bring gentleness, humour, and a holistic therapeutic approach to develop a warm environment for you to share your story. By working together, we can provide you with the tools and insight needed to bring you back into alignment; increasing calm in your body, steadiness in your thoughts, and comfort in sitting with your emotions.
Staying within your capacity and working towards this balance can allow for meaningful understanding, healing, growth, and empowerment. And most importantly, these therapeutic experiences can often help us to understand what was feeling “off”, bring compassion to your process, and shift you to where you want to be.
To ensure that all parts of your internal experience get the attention they need, I work with a combination of evidence-based approaches that gently explore your emotions, thoughts and what’s showing up for you physically. My hope is that this will help you bring more ease and balance to many areas of your life, such as work, play, and your relationships with others. I believe the most important part of my role is to create an environment and relationship that is safe, and therefore, I work from an overarching anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and feminist lens. I am truly here to make sure that you feel seen, heard, valued, and supported; and I feel grateful to have the honour of connecting deeply with others as they heal and grow.
I have attended Adler University to work towards a Masters in Counselling Psychology and hold a bachelor’s degree in Child, Youth, and Family Studies from the University of Guelph. I welcome clients of all cultures, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and relationship styles.
