GROUP:
Yoga for Emotional Resilience, Relaxation & Self-Awareness

This 8-week group offers individuals the opportunity to practice postures, breathing techniques, guided visualizations and relaxation in a group setting. Group members will also practice mindfulness - the process of attending to one’s experience of the present moment in a compassionate, non-judgemental manner.

Mindfulness is the practice of:

Paying attention to our experience in the following ways: intentionally, non-judgementally, and in the present moment… which is not always as easy as it sounds!

Practicing mindful yoga is useful in increasing self-awareness and uncovering patterns as well as creating curiosity, compassion and tolerance of uncomfortable and difficult experiences.

I will assist you in learning and practicing mindfulness and yoga-based strategies involving movement, breath, and mindful awareness to address both physical responses (i.e. shallow breathing) and cognitive responses (i.e. constant rumination) to emotional distress.


Who is this group for?

What happens during the group?

This group is designed for individuals looking to become more aware of the physiological and emotional effects of anxiety, stress, depression, and how to improve overall emotional wellbeing, regulation, focus and mindfulness skills. During this group, members will learn and practice yoga tools and strategies as well ass discuss how they can be used to manage emotional distress. Members will be also invited to reflect on their experiences and connect with others during the group.

You do not need to have previous yoga experience or be flexible. Individuals with serious injuries or trauma should speak to a doctor/counsellor and myself prior to participating in the workshop to discuss their suitability for this group.


Wait… yoga? I thought This was counselling!

In addition to being a registered clinical counsellor and certified yoga instructor, Morgan has been trained in Therapeutic Yoga for Trauma, Resilience & Well-Being. Over the past several years, Morgan has taught a wide range of public and private yoga classes for adults and children. She has taught in a variety of settings, such as schools, counselling centres and studios, and has facilitated several workshops and groups focusing on mindful yoga for trauma, anxiety and emotional wellbeing.

 

This group runs twice a year for 8 weeks, typically on Sunday evenings or a weekday evening.
